Disciplinary Action Policy
Veterans India is a national apolitical patriotic organization led by ex-servicemen, dedicated to fostering nationalism and patriotism among citizens, especially youth and students, for nation-building. We are committed to maintaining a respectful, ethical, and productive environment for all our members. This Disciplinary Action Policy outlines the standards of conduct expected from members and the procedures for addressing violations.
Standards of Conduct
Members of Veterans India are expected to:
- Abide by the organization’s rules, regulations, and policies.
- Act in a manner that reflects the values and mission of Veterans India.
- Treat fellow members, staff, and the public with respect and courtesy.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Avoid conflicts of interest.
Grounds for Disciplinary Action
Disciplinary action may be taken against a member for any of the following reasons:
- Violation of the Code of Conduct.
- Unethical behavior or misconduct.
- Non-compliance with organizational policies or procedures.
- Harassment, discrimination, or abusive behavior.
- Misuse or misappropriation of Veterans India’s resources or funds.
- Unauthorized disclosure of confidential information.
- Actions that harm the reputation or interests of Veterans India.
Disciplinary Action Procedures
- Complaint Submission:
- Any member, staff, or third party may submit a complaint regarding a member’s conduct.
- Complaints must be submitted in writing to the Executive Committee and include detailed information about the alleged misconduct.
- Investigation:
- The Executive Committee will conduct a thorough and impartial investigation of the complaint.
- The member in question will be notified of the investigation and will be given an opportunity to respond to the allegations.
- Review and Decision:
- Upon completion of the investigation, the Executive Committee will review the findings.
- A decision regarding disciplinary action will be made based on the evidence presented. A two-thirds majority vote of the Executive Committee is required to impose disciplinary action.
- Notification:
- The member will be notified in writing of the decision, including the reasons for the decision and the disciplinary action to be taken.
- Disciplinary actions may include, but are not limited to, warnings, suspension, or termination of membership.
- Right to Appeal:
- The disciplined member has the right to appeal the decision within 30 days of the notification.
- The appeal must be submitted in writing to the Executive Committee, outlining the grounds for appeal.
- The Executive Committee will review the appeal and make a final decision within 30 days. The decision on the appeal will be final and binding.
Types of Disciplinary Actions
- Warning:
- A formal written notice indicating that the member’s conduct is unacceptable and must be corrected.
- Suspension:
- Temporary removal of membership privileges for a specified period.
- Termination of Membership:
- Permanent removal of the member from Veterans India.
Confidentiality
All proceedings related to disciplinary actions will be kept confidential to protect the privacy of all parties involved.
Amendments
This Disciplinary Action Policy may be amended from time to time by the Executive Committee. Members will be notified of any changes to the policy.
