Brief Profile :Major General K Eswaran was a student of BITS Pilani, when he joined National Defence Academy in 1977 and was commissioned into The Regiment of Artillery. Later he got transferred to the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME). He retired in 2017 after being with the Armed Forces for about forty years. He excelled in all courses and completed B Tech and M Tech with flying colours. Later he obtained post graduate Diploma in Multimedia and Animation. He is also a Fellow of Institute of Engineers India. During his illustrious career, he has held several appointments and specialised in Armoured Fighting Vehicles. He has actively participated in several operations. His last appointment was as Commandant of EME School at Baroda which is akin to a Vice Chancellor. He has been awarded Vishist Seva Medal by the President of India. He has also been awarded Chief of Army Staff Commendation, Twice and an Army Commander’s Commendation. He has been strong proponent of moral values and ethics in the Army. He has several articles to his credit on the subject. He also organized a seminar in Delhi on ‘National Character Building’ inviting H.E. Dr APJ Abdul Kalam in Dec 2010. It was attended by Officers of Delhi Area, Teachers and students of twelve schools in Delhi. Based on this seminar, he instituted ‘Character and Competence Award’ in about Delhi Area Schools. He also instituted similar awards in Army Base Workshop and Training Centre. Continuing his pursuit on value-based education, at Baroda, he organized several workshops on ‘Habits of Highly Effective People’ for all officers and men. This workshop gives deep insight into one’s own capability and makes one much more effective based on principles. It also ensures a good work life balance. After retirement he was looking for some NGO to work with but got the opportunity of being a Defence Banking Advisor of southern region in State Bank of India where he could help all serving and retired officers and men especially the widows of Armed Forces. After working for two and half years, he retired prematurely to spend full time in social service and Value based Education. He is the founder of Help and Serve Public Charitable Trust and has launched a social Service website for all Armed Forces people --www.helpandserve.in. It is mutual help platform.
Presently he is a Social Activist and engaged in Value based education and Personality Development. He has been delivering lectures and conducting workshops at various institutions in Civil and Military. He is also a keen artist and spends time in oil paintings.
